Girls played with dolls fashioned from sea plants, such as eelgrass (see Zostera) or sargasso weed (see Sargassum). Wooden dolls were carved from the wood of red elephant tree (see Bursera hindsiana). Dolls were also made from stuffed quail or jackrabbit heads, turtle bones, pelican bones, crab claws (e.g., Calinectes bellicosus), clay figurines, and rocks. Doll clothing was made from pieces of cloth or seaweed, such as Gigartina.
