Morganatic marriage

A morganatic marriage is a marriage between a royal person and a non-royal person, where the husband's titles and privileges do not go to the wife or any children they have. There are not many morganatic marriages any more. A morganatic marriage is sometimes called a left-handed marriage because in the wedding ceremony the groom usually held his bride's right hand with his left hand instead of his right.[1]
